Thrust ball bearings are designed to accommodate axial loads in one or both directions while providing smooth rotational performance and precise shaft positioning. Their simple structure consists of bearing washers and precision balls arranged in a cage assembly to minimize friction during operation.

These bearings are particularly suitable for applications involving moderate axial loads and relatively high rotational speeds. Due to their design characteristics, thrust ball bearings are commonly used where radial loads are minimal or separately supported by other bearing arrangements.

Thrust ball bearings

Thrust ball bearings are specialized rolling bearings engineered to support axial loads while allowing smooth rotational movement between machine components. Depending on the design, they may be configured to accommodate axial forces in a single direction or in both directions.

The rolling elements consist of hardened steel balls housed within a precision cage assembly. This design minimizes friction and enables efficient operation at relatively high speeds compared with many roller-type thrust bearings.
