Thin Section Bearings

Thin Section Bearings

BY Bearings manufactures high-precision constant-section thin-section bearings designed to deliver compact size, low friction, and excellent load-carrying capability. Unlike standard ISO bearings, each bearing series maintains the same nearly square cross-section across bore diameters from 1.000" to 40.000", with section sizes ranging from 0.1875" × 0.1875" to 1.000" × 1.000". This unique design enables significant reductions in weight and installation space while maintaining high rotational accuracy.

The product range includes three open bearing designs: C radial contact bearings, A angular contact bearings, and X four-point contact bearings, together with sealed C radial and X four-point contact versions. Open bearings are ideal for clean operating environments, while sealed designs provide enhanced protection against contamination and help retain lubrication in demanding applications.

To satisfy diverse application requirements, BY Bearings offers customizable internal clearance, contact angle, lubrication, and cage configurations. Multiple cage options—including one-piece crown, circular pocket, wire ring, PTFE spacer, and ball-isolator designs—ensure proper ball separation, reduced friction, and reliable long-term performance. For corrosive environments, 9Cr18 stainless steel bearings are also available with short lead times.

Definition of Constant Section (CS) Thin-Section Bearings

Constant Section (CS) Thin-Section Bearings are a specialized category of high-precision rolling bearings engineered with a unique near-square miniature cross-sectional structure. Differing drastically from standard ISO conventional bearings whose cross-section dimensions expand with the increase of inner bore diameter, each series of CS thin-section bearings maintains completely consistent cross-section specifications regardless of varying inner diameter sizes, which is the core feature that defines its “constant section” attribute.

This optimized structural design endows CS thin-section bearings with outstanding comprehensive performance, including ultra-high rotational precision, ultra-low operational noise, stable structural rigidity and excellent load-bearing capacity. They perfectly solve the structural pain points of bulky size, unstable precision and poor adaptability of traditional bearings in compact equipment scenarios. Adhering to strict industrial manufacturing standards, our CS thin-section bearings cover a complete and standardized size range: the bore inner diameter spans from 1.000 inches to 40.000 inches, while the square cross-section specifications range from 0.1875"×0.1875" to 1.000"×1.000", fully meeting the dimensional matching needs of diverse precision equipment.

Product Classification

We classify CS thin-section bearings scientifically based on structural contact forms and sealing configurations, with diversified complete models to adapt to different load conditions, working environments and installation requirements, realizing precise matching with various industrial application scenarios.

1. By Structural Contact Type & Seal Form

Open-type (3 Optional Models)

Open-structure bearings feature no sealing cover on both sides, with unobstructed internal structure, convenient lubrication replacement and heat dissipation, suitable for clean and well-lubricated working environments. The three core contact types are as follows:

Type C (Radial Contact): Adopts deep ball groove design, mainly bears heavy radial loads, and can withstand moderate axial and moment loads synchronously. It boasts stable operation and strong structural stability, ideal for general precision rotation scenarios dominated by radial force.

Type A (Angular Contact): Features angular contact structure, capable of bearing combined radial and axial loads. It is suitable for high-speed rotating working conditions and asymmetric load scenarios, often used in paired installation to improve overall bearing rigidity and rotation accuracy.

Type X (Four-point Contact): Equipped with gothic arch raceway structure, enabling four-point contact between rolling balls and raceways. A single bearing can bear bidirectional axial loads, radial loads and overturning moment loads, replacing the combination of double-row bearings, which greatly simplifies equipment structure.

Sealed-type (2 Optional Models)

Fitted with high-performance sealing structures on both sides, sealed bearings can effectively block dust, impurities, moisture and other pollutants from entering the interior, prevent lubricant leakage, and achieve long-term maintenance-free operation. The available models cover mainstream load demands:

Type C (Radial Contact): Retains the high radial load capacity of radial contact structure, with excellent dust-proof and leak-proof performance, applicable to precision equipment that requires stable radial load bearing and environmental adaptability.

Type X (Four-point Contact): Integrates the multi-directional load-bearing advantage of four-point contact and the protective performance of sealed structure, perfectly suited for complex working conditions with alternating loads and certain environmental pollution risks.

2.Customizable Specifications

To meet the personalized and differentiated application requirements of different industries and equipment, we provide comprehensive customized configuration services for CS thin-section bearings, covering multiple core performance and structural parameters to realize one-stop adaptive matching:

We support flexible customization of internal clearance, contact angle, lubrication mode and cage structure, which can accurately adjust the bearing’s running precision, high-speed stability and load resistance according to equipment operating parameters. Meanwhile, we provide targeted product solutions for typical working conditions:

Corrosive Environments: We recommend 9Cr18 stainless steel CS bearings, which possess excellent corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance and wear resistance, adapting to humid, chemical and other harsh corrosive scenarios, with reliable quality and fast delivery support.

Low-contamination Working Conditions: Open-type bearings are the preferred choice. Their open structure facilitates full lubrication and thorough cleaning, avoiding lubricant accumulation and impurity residue, ensuring ultra-clean operation of precision equipment.

Cleanroom & Long-term Lubrication Requirements: Sealed-type bearings are highly recommended. The reliable sealing structure isolates external pollutants to meet cleanroom cleanliness standards, and locks internal lubricant to achieve long-cycle lubrication maintenance, reducing equipment downtime and maintenance costs.

Bearing Cage Introduction

The cage is a core auxiliary component of CS thin-section bearings, which uniformly isolates and fixes each rolling ball at equal intervals. It effectively eliminates friction and collision between adjacent rolling elements, reduces running noise and vibration, ensures stable and smooth high-speed rotation of the bearing, and extends the overall service life of the product.

To match different precision grades, rotating speeds, load conditions and application scenarios, we provide a full range of optional professional cage styles, covering mainstream industrial configurations:

One-piece Crown Cage: Integrated molding structure, light weight, high rigidity and good high-speed performance, suitable for high-precision and high-speed rotating equipment.

Full Circular Pocket Cage: Equipped with complete ball pocket structure, stable limit effect on rolling balls, uniform stress, excellent wear resistance, ideal for long-term continuous operation scenarios.

Wire Ring Cage: Simple and lightweight structure, low friction coefficient, good flexibility, suitable for compact installation space and low-load precision rotation scenarios.

PTFE Spacer: Features ultra-low friction, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and self-lubricating properties, applicable to special working conditions such as high temperature, low temperature and chemical corrosion.

Ball Isolator: Adopts independent isolation design for single rolling ball, minimizing friction resistance, improving bearing rotation flexibility and precision, meeting the ultra-high precision operation requirements of top-end precision equipment.
